Anna Bannister
I trained as a midwife in England and emigrated to NZ in 1988, becoming an Independent Midwife in 1990. I first registered as a nurse in adult and also children nursing then went on to do my midwifery training.
I offer birth at Nelson Hospital, Motueka Maternity Unit and Home Birth, including waterbirth.
My practice covers the area from Motueka to Wakefield to Stoke and all points between. I do not look after women who live in Nelson city, but canm refer you to midwives who do.
My philosophy is that this is your pregnancy and I aim to work in partnership with you and your family to give you the best pregnancy, labour, birth and new parent experience possible. I work with other midwives for back-up, and have a good relationship with the Obstetricians if referral is required.
I use homoeopathy, acupressure/acupuncture and massage as appropriate.

Celia Rodley
I have been an independent midwife in Nelson, New Zealand for the past 15 years and have assisted at the births of over 1,000 babies. Before that I worked for six years full time as a midwife in the Nelson maternity unit.
I visit you in your home and encourage family involvement. It is a joy to involve toddlers and other children in my antenatal visits. My philosophy is to encourage normal birth with as little intervention as possible but I would not hesitate to refer to a specialist if there were any concerns about you or your baby.
I offer hospital or home birth and have a back up midwifery colleague who you will meet. The timing of my visits are tailored to your needs with follow up after the birth for 6 weeks. I am a strong advocate for breast feeding and have good success with supporting women in that area.
My average workload is 50 births per year. I belong to the New Zealand College of Midwives and my practice is reviewed annually.
