Berkeley Cinemas Hibiscus Coast
Every Wednesday (except during school holidays) at 10:30am we have a Spit the Dummy session. The cost is $6.50 for Mothers, with children. Kids under five are free. Kids five and over are $7.50ea. If fathers, grandmothers, or grand fathers wish to come along as along as they are accompanied by a child they also pay $6.50. The movies are usually new releases, and we usually try to show movies under two hours long. We also leave the lights partially on so that the mothers can keep an eye on the smaller children and the sound is turned slightly down, so that explosions and the such don't tend to wake the wee ones.

Baby Xpertize
Baby Xpertize was established after noticing women were feeling alone and unsupported and that there was no support late in the evenings or in the wee hours of the morning. The team at Baby Xpertize have all had children and for many of us support was limited due to our career choices, so we understand what an amazing yet stressful time this can be. We are all registered nurses that have specialised in paediatrics, and are competent with the art of breastfeeding; we also have wonderful support of lactation consultants that we are happy to refer to as the need arises. Our aim at Baby Xpertize is to provide women with all the support and compassion that they need. So that mothers grow and delight with the new experience of motherhood, thus providing a framework for generations.

Best Care Doulas
A doula will provide support and encouragement to new parents. The tasks they carry out will give parents more time to relax and bond with their new child. Research has shown that women who have the support of a post natal doula are less likely to suffer from post natal depression. Parents find increased levels of confidence in being able to make their own decisions based on sound, yet non-judgemental advice. Your doula will support you in implementing the plan you and your LMC have decided upon.

Growing Up in New Zealand
Growing Up in New Zealand is a new child development research project led by the University of Auckland. It aims to find out what makes children happy and healthy so we can find ways to improve the lives of all New Zealand children.
What makes this research special is that it starts while the mums are still pregnant, and for the first time in New Zealand, dads and partners are invited to be part of the project too (after all, they're just as important to your child as you are!).
If you live in Auckland city (south of the Harbour Bridge), Counties-Manukau, Thames-Coromandel, Waikato, King Country and National Park, we'd love you to be part of this project.
The only criteria is that your baby must be due between 25 April and 25 December this year (Anzac Day to Christmas Day 2009).
For more information or to enrol, please visit our website (www.growingup.co.nz) or call us free on 0508 476946.

TABS
Becoming a mother can put women under considerable psychological pressure. Post-natal (or post-partum) depression (PND or PPD) is a well-known and very common experience. Potentially much longer lasting and insidious, however, is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) arising from events before, during, after or throughout the whole of the birth experience.
